Check the Expiration Dates of Babys Products

Baby’s products as well as products for adults, have the same expiration time. The negative impacts of the use of products that have expired are also the same. So, it's good for mothers to understand the expiration of baby products by paying attention to the following details.

  • Expiry date is usually listed on the packaging of the product, whether the product is used or foods/beverages. The expiration date indicates the maximum time the product can be stored if the packaging has not been opened

  • If the product has been unpacked and used, expiration date will be faster than the date indicated on the packaging as the opened products are more easily contaminated by exposure to air, sunlight and bacteria.

  • In some products, code of usage period if the products have been opened is also listed. Usually it’s like a picture code of bottles/containers with the lid open, along with the numbers 6, 9 or 12. These figures indicate the maximum number of months for the product usage after the packaging is opened/used.

  • Generally, the packaging of baby products, such as baby powder and baby oil, include the date of expiration. If not, the baby products can be used up to 3 years after the first time packaging is opened.

  • If the color has changed or produced a different smell than it should, the product should not be used again even though the expiration date is still far to go. It is possible that the products are faulty due to inappropriate storage procedure

  • For disposable baby diapers, the use is not dependent on the expiration date. Because a baby's diaper has no expiry date, mothers have to consider whether the diaper is still clean or not moldy and dank odor.
